Welcome to the Ontario Games Program!

Four unique multisport competitions and one championship showcases Ontario's athletes and Ontario's communities, offering participants, volunteers and spectators the chance to experience the challenge and excitement of the Games, and leaving behind an important legacy of community pride and sport tourism development. Since 1970, the Games have brought Ontario together while providing an opportunity for athletes to reach for their dreams.
The Sport Alliance of Ontario delivers the Ontario Games Program on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, as part of its efforts to support amateur sport, physical activity and community development in the province.

The different Games range in size from 300 participants to 3,500 participants and require diverse facilities and support. There is truly a Games opportunity for every community.
ONTARIO GAMES Objectives
- A celebration of Youth
- Held every two years in even numbered years; 2006, 2008, 2010, etc
- Four days of competitions
- For athletes under 22 years of age
- 3,500 participants, including athletes, coaches and officials
- 20 different summer sports, 26 winter sports
- Over 1,000 volunteers
- A typical budget of approximately $1.2 million
- Sponsorship of $400,000 provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion through the sportalliance
ONTARIO SENIOR GAMES Objectives
- A celebration of active living
- Held every two years; Actifest in even numbered years and Winterfest in odd numbered years
- Two days of competitions
- For participants 55 years and older
- 1,100+ participants including athletes, coaches and officials
- 16 different Actifest sports, 11 Winterfest sports
- Over 300 volunteers
- A typical budget of approximately $460,000
- Sponsorship of $150,000 for Actifest and $200,000 for Winterfest, provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion through the Sport Alliance of Ontario
ONTARIO PARASPORT GAMES Objectives
- To provide athletes with physical disabilities an elite level provincial championship
- To provide a venue for athletes to be selected, and advance to national and international competitions
- To enhance development of athletes, coaches, officials and the Provincial Sports Organizations (PSO's)
- To promote public awareness of the Paralympic movement, sport and showcase Ontario's best athletes
- To provide host communities with an opportunity to make their communities barrier free and leave a legacy for persons with a disability in the community
- To reach out to other groups in the community to assist in the organization of the championships
- Summer held every year, Winter held every years
- Summer Two days of competition; Winter three days of competition
- Summer includes 250 participants in 6 sports; Winter includes 370 participants in 7 sports
- Summer 150 volunteers; Winter 250 volunteers
- Sponsorship of $45,000 (Summer) & $75,000 (Winter) provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion through the Sport Alliance of Ontario and coordinated by Paralympics Ontario
