LEARN TO PREVENT, ASSESS AND MANAGE SPORT INJURIES............

Created in 2001, Red Cross Sport First Aid is the result of a partnership between the Sport Alliance of Ontario (SAO) and the Canadian Red Cross.  Unlike traditional standard first aid courses, Sport First Aid is ideal for coaches, trainers, teachers and students who would like to learn how to prevent, assess and manage injuries occurring in sports and recreation.  The workshop includes guidelines on returning to play after an injury, information on facility and equipment safety and tips on how to avoid litigation.

This 2-day, 18-20 hour, learner-centred workshop encourages discussion and active participation through group activities.  Certification is valid for three years.   Suitable for participants 16 years of age and over.

• Preventing Injuries Through Proper Training
• Preparing to Help Injured Athletes
• Emergency Action Plan
• Head and Spine Injuries
• Injuries to Soft Tissue and Bone
• Return to Play Guidelines
• AED (Automated External Defibrillation) Training

Participants will receive an easy-to-follow Sport First Aid reference book which goes hand in hand with the Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR manual, and, upon successful completion,  a Red Cross Sport First Aid and CPR "C"/AED certificate valid for 3 years.
