Holly Abraham, Board Chair

Sport has always been a passion of Holly’s regardless of the role she is in. Throughout the years she has been an Athlete, Coach, international Judge, volunteer Board and committee Member, Learning Facilitator for the NCCP, Parent of athletes, and CEO of a PSO, and enjoyed it all. The experiences gained from these roles, supports Holly’s enthusiasm for sport. Her goal in being involved with the SAO is to bring sport together, to create synergy in the sport system, expand networks and be part of a results based organization.

Dr. Mike Murphy is the past chair of Sport Alliance Ontario and is currently the President of Rowing Canada Aviron. Mike has a very active roll in the sport of rowing as he is the past president, Commonwealth Rowing Association, Row Ontario, London Rowing Club and London Rowing Society. For many years he has also been the chair of the National High Performance Centre for Rowing in London Ontario. Mike was also Co-chair of the 2004 Ontario Summer and Winter Games and was a member of the London Sport Council. Mike continues to share his experiences and wealth of knowledge through his roll as Professor at the Faculty of Education at The University of Western Ontario. He has won many honourable awards including Governor General’s Commemorative Award 1992 and Ontario Special Achievement Award (now Syl Apps Award).

A graduate of Canadore College Recreation Leadership Program, Dave was employed by the City of North Bay for 30 years retiring as Manager of Tourism and Leisure Services. A hands on leader, Dave has been involved at a national, provincial and local level. He has served as President of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the Society of Directors of Municipal Recreation of Ontario. At the local level, he is a founding member of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame and was inducted as an athlete, builder and official in 1995. He was chosen as one of the top 20 builders of sport in North Bay on the 75th anniversary of the City and in 2007 was chosen as the Kiwanis Club Citizen of the Year. Dave has served as a member of Team Ontario for 5 sets of Canada Games, has served as a SAO Board member for 7 years and has chaired the provincial awards program for 5 years.
