Sport Alliance Ontario offers a number of resources that can be used by coaches, trainers, athletes, volunteers and sport leaders to help prevent and reduce the incidence and severity of injuries occurring in sport and recreational activities.
| Canadian Sport Law Handbooks |
The CSL Handbooks, written by experts in Canadian sport and recreation law, have been created with the needs of volunteer sport and recreation leaders, sport associations and club directors in mind. For a detailed description of each booklet in the series and to place your order for any or all of the 10 topics, please click here. For more current resources on sport law, please visit the Sport Law & Strategy Group website.
| Injury Prevention Related Organizations |
Research tells us that more than 95% of injuries are preventable. To find out what other organizations are doing in terms of sport injury prevention (and injury prevention in general) and how you can become involved, we have listed a number of websites to visit. These organizations devote their time and expertise to develop effective strategies and activities which will aid in reducing the incidence and severity of preventable injury. ThinkFirst Canada have created a number of downloadable sport-specific tip sheets aimed at educating coaches, athletes and parents in the prevention and assessment of injury in sports and recreation.
The SCAT2 (Sport Concussion Assessment Tool), represents a standardized method of evaluating injured athletes for concussion and can be used in athletes aged from 10 years and older. This tool is geared to medical and health professionals. A more user-friendly version of this tool (called the Pocket SCAT2) is also available to assist coaches and trainers in recognizing the signs and symptoms of concussion.
